sky + remote £1 tesco glitch

done a quick search and cant find this posted already but just incase it can help someone else........
I was in my local tesco earlier and my nan found a proper 'sky +' remote with 2 duracell battries for £1! the shelf edge label was yellow with 3 printed mark downs on it starting at £22.99. she took it upto the checkout and they said it should not have been advertised as that as it was a mistake (usual tesco backtrack lol) but my nan had hear my stories of how tesco had to honour their prices before with me on various glitches via here and she insisted she should only pay the £1. The manager threw the shelf edge label down and said just give it to the woman lol,she bought 2, then i piped up from about 5 down the line........ive got 2 aswell......he was furious
bless my wee nan she said she felt like she was shoplifting and was shaking! very proud of her :D
dont know if it will be all/anyother tesco but def worth a look if you are passing...the shelf edge label did say sky+ remote by the way!
hope it makes someone elses day

Bargaintastic, but...tesco do double the difference I think, so you should have made £21 profit on each one. Send supernan back and kick up a fuss!!!!!

On the basis that the OP and Nan bought 2 each and double the difference then they :rotfl:owe Tesco £87.96 each:rotfl:

...my stories of how tesco had to honour their prices before with me on various glitches...

Well done to your Nan for putting her foot down, but surely the manager in Tesco could have continued to refuse if he wanted to? He does not 'have to' honour the price on the shelf.

As this happened at the checkout, they can refuse to sell anything to anyone for any reason if they want to (maybe not the best business option to take, though!)

  • lol hadnt even thought of double the difference, not like me not to but i was blinded by the inital bargain (the counter staff would probably know me by now as they always end up paying me to take their whole chickens as they keep making the same error lol) i was too consumed with the whole situation nan was making at the front of the queue lol hers hadnt astually been 'sold' at full price as she didnt hand over the total amount, she questioned it and insisted it was £1 on the shelf label.........or else i suppose we could have bought the 4 of them at full price (wouldve had to go on my cc it was so expensive :rotfl:) and then walk straight back in and asked for a refund......but really i dont think they would have honoured it can you imagine them handing back that amount of money, nan wouldve required an ambulance!
yes jamie85 its the more expensive one on the tesco direct site :D

Nan would have been better off paying the £22 for them then taking them too the customer services desk saying she had been over charged :D and would like DTD

so she would have paid £44 for the 2 remotes, then the over charge would have been £42 double to £84 minus the original £44 paid, £40 profit and 2 sky remotes

I'm going to check Tesco now x

I hate to say it - but it is on occasions like this that i really don't tlike this site. People talking about glitches etc - paying £1 for something that everybody else has to pay £20-odd for.

Some people on here have no shame. Seeing somehting reduced is great, and we all love a bargain. But this was a clear mistake, and 'kicking up a fuss' about it is really inappropriate, in my opinion. I personally would feel so disrespectful to all of the otehrs that had to pay the correct price, and would simply accept paying what everyone else has. Then trying to get double the difference back - how pathetic. Get a life people.
