    Good morning all!

Well I'm alive, and feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. There was a lot of shock and tears last night and Emmzi was right, they had a good idea i'd spent it, and they was dissapointed that i'd never turned to them earlier for help.

I'm so glad its in the open now, my Dad has said he is going to pay all my cards off, on the grounds that i chop up my CC's (which i'll be more than glad to do), pay him £200 a month until the debt is settled and give him my word i wont apply for any more cards. I know he's lost a lot of trust in me so its up to me to regain it which is what i intend on doing.

I'd like to thank you all and my girlfriend for helping me through this, i think if i hadnt of posted on here i'd still be living the lie today.

Here's my SOA, i do need to make some serious cut-backs, and can see some areas that i can deffinately improve on. I've taken sandwiches to work today for the first time in a while, so hopefully i'm on my way into this next 2-3 year saving journey.

    Rent £250.00
    Petrol £120.00
    Car Insurance £73.22
    Tunnel Fairs £52.00
    Mobile £50.00
    Gym £29.50
    Cinema £30.00
    Football £8.00
    Hair £25.00
    Liverpool FC.tv £4.49
Food £60.00 (based on £3 a day, sometimes more as i eat out quite a bit)

    Thanks all again,

    Lee

    Well done Lee :)

Sounds like your parents have had the same reaction as mine did a few weeks back :)

I take it since you have put down £30 for the cinema every month that you go regularly? I also love the cinema and I have an unlimited card for cineworld if there is one in your area it'll save you money it only costs £10.99 a month and you can go as often as you like. (The winter months for me one day most weekends I can spend a full day going to see 2/3 films in succession. Its my one treat that I like to keep for me.)

Your food money as well, think you need to start making a conscious effort to take food with you to work even doing it for a 2 week spell to see how much you can save.

I would dump the liverpool tv surely thats £4.49 you could use better. The gym as well even for a while until you get your money sorted. I would also look for a cheaper hairdresser, I don't even pay £25 for my hair to be cut now! I've had to find a hairdresser that is cheaper than the one I have been going to for years and they still do a great job of it.

Maybe your £28 from your work at the football would be better put to use for your car like MOT service and road tax? I know a holiday would be good BUT at least you would know you had money put aside for your car if anything went wrong with it.

Also keep a spending diary, I've done this the last few weeks and its amazing the crap I have bought! I got a little note book to write everything down in. That way you know exactly what you are spending your money on.

    Good Luck
    :)

PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTS
  • Hello Lee,

Am very glad things were positive. My mum was gutted when I toldher about my debts, and Idon't even have Uni to blame!!

A couple of thoughts on your SOA:

Petrol £120.00 - Can you cut down on driving? Walk more, get a bike? YOu could ask on Freecycle, and then you wouldn't need the gym either!
Car Insurance £73.22 - Damn!! What do you drive??? This seems very high. Downgrade the car possibly?

    Tunnel Fairs £52.00
Mobile £50.00 - Seems high, can you switchto another tariff? Call your provider, even if you are still in contract.
Gym £29.50 You can't afford this, that is £350 per year you could be repaying your dad.
Cinema £30.00 - YOu can't afford this either. Another £350 to your Dad.
    Football £8.00
Hair £25.00 Try your local beauty or hairdressing college - cheap or free treatments! I'm a girl and I don't spend that!
Liverpool FC.tv £4.49 - YOu steward at the games? Then why pay to watch interviews etc? Dump it.
Food £60.00 (based on £3 a day, sometimes more as i eat out quite a bit) That needs to change. Learn to cook, and throw a dinner party for your parents/mates and your girl. Cheaper and shows them you appreciate them, and you still have a lovely eve. Take packed lunches every day

Your stewarding money could be split - half to your holiday, and half to your dad. Go somewhere cheaply - I got a great holiday on last minute.com for £250 - Cyprus, all flights, breakfast and 4* hotel!

Good luck mate, I hope this all helps, brutal as it may seem!

  • Wel done Lee,

It's great to have the support of your parents - Just make sure you clear those debts and make them proud.

I'm sure your dad had a worse day when you announced you were a Liverpool fan ;)
