hi, i want to buy a laptop for when i travel in january with uni
i was wondering whether i should buy it now (so i can transfer all my desktop documents before i start uni, and won't have to buy a wireless card (as that is all we have a uni))
or shall i buy it in a few months?

nothing much coming up but as you can wait for a little while wait untill the "go to Uni" rush is over and Dell and others may have decent offers to boost trade

most modren laptops and notebooks have wireless lan or wifi built in as standard now.
what probably the main thing is where are you going to buy it from and now will you return it if something goes wrong with it.Scottish proverb - "Never drink whisky with water and never drink water without whisky"0 -
yeh the thing is i just don't wanna buy a laptop and it be £100 cheaper in a few weeks haha....do computer prices change for christmas or even straight after christmas?0

yes, back up at xmas, Dells Inspiron 1300 Laptop for example wanders between £289 and £379, they also bump up the specs, double Ram hard disk etc and free delivery to boost sales when they are sluggish, Thursday is their update day when the new deals come out (they will sometimes pull a deal if it's too popular )Ex forum ambassador

I have to disagre about the best time to buy one, granted I'd never buy one in the lead up to xmas. laptops also hold their value alot better than desktop systems. I'd buy one just when you need it, their is usually little difference in price between online and store retailers in price for laptops, espeacially now that the likes of pcworld and co use buy in store options. just keep a eye out for a bargin that will forfill your needs.Scottish proverb - "Never drink whisky with water and never drink water without whisky"0
