Moving from PC to laptop

I have always used a PC and my wife has a laptop. We moved from a large house where we had two spare bedrooms we each used as offices but have now moved to a smaller house with no spare bedrooms.
I really don't want the PC set up being 'in my face' on the ground floor and so am thinking of getting rid of it and buying a laptop. But will I regret it? I have been sharing my wifes in the evenings but there are so many times where the only sensible solution is one each.
My PC is just over one year old and so it looks as if I would take a big hit on the price as they don't get much on Ebay. And I would be very nervous about buying a laptop on Ebay - rightly or wrongly??
Ah decisions and what to do?

Does your desktop machine need to be "in your face"?
It may well be possible to only have the monitor on view and use wireless keyboard & mouse to help keep the look a bit more subtle0 -
Are you happy using your wife's laptop or do your prefer the PC? Looking for a laptop with a larger screen?0

I understand where you are coming from I have both and my room is so small so having both leave me with no room what so ever. And as much as using the laptop is nice and easy, I find it much quicker when writing reports or working to use the pc. I would say you have a few options
1. Get a laptop with big screen and external mouse and keyboard
2. get a laptop and when you need to work you could alway hook it up to your tv and use external keyboard and mouse
3. keep the pc and find room for it
4. sell the pc and buy a slimline computer and use it as media centre and use your tv as a pc
hope this helps a bit.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Before I started using my wifes I felt her 15" screen was way too small. But after a while I realise that it is part of the compromise. I am not wanting to be so addicted to surfing the Net and other stuff on the PC.0 -

Larger screen laptops aren't necessarily more expensive. It all depends on what is the most important to you.0 -
You can get a new laptop from one of the dealers who sell on ebay. They're trustworthy & they will have a warranty. Select the 'new' & 'buy it now' links to see what's available, then see http://www.reevoo.com/ for user reviews.0

personally i would prefer to go into an actual shop and see the laptops for myself
a shop is harder to disappear than an ebay account0
