I switched my home phone and broadband provider about 1 year ago however have just noticed that I have not been charged. Aftre logging on to the online billing site I noticed they have the wrong sort code. I am now in a dilema, do I contact them and confess and possibly get hit by a huge bill or do I sit back and wait for the s;'t to hit the fan? If they contact me am I legally entitled to pay? or if the fault was of their doing (which it obviously was) are they going tto have to let it go? Any help would be much appreciated.

I'll leave it up to your morals what you do, but the outcome will probably be the same.
Debts rarely disappear by ignoring them."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

If you play the honest card and tell them now I would think there would be more chance of negotiating a little bit of discount.
You have used the service so are legally obliged to pay for it.0 -
Strange that, if they have the wrong Sort Code (and, therefore, have presumably made failed Direct Debits calls for many months) that they haven't phoned you or written to you demanding payment.
Nevertheless, the advice already given is correct. You're liable and you will have to pay - sooner or later. I'd recommend sooner to pre-empt any possible marker on your credit files.
P.S. Did it really take you a whole year to realise that you've not been getting telephone and broadband bills?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
