Microwave all rusted inside

My microwave (Sharp) is about 3 years old and when I cleaned it today alot of the paint on the interior came off and it is all rusty underneath. The bottom of the door panel on the inside is also really rusty. Is it still safe to use or am I better getting a new one with a stainless steel interior? If I am better getting a new one can anyone recommend a good one which is compact and not a combi?

With rust showing it will almost certainly blow the magnatron, it did ours a few years back with a loud bang and a bit of smokeYou may click thanks if you found my advice useful0

You can buy a special paint for the insides of microwaves i believe but if it's rusty then i wouldn't bother as the paint and rust treatment will probably cost more than a new microwave! So yes buy a new one. I wouldn't use it again if i were you as there will likely be alot of arcing and will blow up the magnatron.
I would recommend Sharp as our microwave (white inside and out) i've had about 10 years and the only problem has been that we had to replace the waveguide cover last week (£3.99 for a small bit of special card is daylight robbery IMHO - but still cheaper than a new microwave). However quality might have slipped in 10 years so whether they still make them like they used to i can't say.0
