What about using a shower curtain - I did for my boys. They are cheap, big and robust enough, and can be chucked in the washing machine.

    It's only a game

buy a cheap "basics" shower curtain....seen them around for 99p in supermarkets or £ shops!
They also make great Splat mats for painting, or doing messy play

I'm very short of storage space - would they probably be bulky when folded and not in use?

Plastic decorators dust sheet - 2m x 50m roll. £3.29 at Screwficks. Use once and chuck it. Other ideas in the same section.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

No, just roll 'em up and stick 'em in the loft, under the bed etc.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.
