Selling worldwide!!!

At the mo i state uk only, but am always having emails asking will i post to germany, holland, canada etc.
TBH i am really thick when it comes to working out postage(on uk stuf,f let alone further afield!! ) but would i benefit from posting worldwide? i only sell clear out items but am finding ebay really slow at the mo and am tempted!!!
What are the downsides!!
thanks in advance.

    hi
i've sold a few things worldwide, if i get asked i take it to the P.O. and get them to weigh and price it for me,then email the buyer the price .NO downsides if you do the usual payment options paypal etc.

  • Airmail prices are listed here:

As you'll see, they're in 20g weight increments, so if you don't have any scales that accurate, you can either take the package to the PO to check the price in advance, or if you weigh it on your ordinary kitchen scales, add a bit on to make sure you don't end up paying more than you charge your customer for postage.
Sensible payment options are also more limited: most sellers take international payment by Paypal only, whereas domestic customers can usually pay by cheque or P.O.
Anything valuable should be sent by Airsure, which I think costs an extra £4 or so.
I wouldn't offer surface mail as an option unless the item were unusually heavy, since the deadline for item not received claims on eBay is 45 days, and intercontinental surface mail can take longer than that.

Airmail postage is really simpler than the new UK system because the size it not taken into account, only the weight of the packet. Small packet rates cost much less than letter rates and the delivery times don't seem to be different. Or have other people found a difference in speed of delivery?
