Hi I hope someone can help me, I cant connect my laptop to my netgear router.

Everything was working fine untill a few days ago, my router was called Deborah and had security and connected automatically. Then one morning for no reason, my router is back to its origional name, no security and my laptop wont connect to it.

It did this once before, I called AOL and they gave me a step by step guide to re-connecting, does anyone know how to do this please?
(It took hours for me to get through to someone on aol who knew what the problem was, I really dont want to ring them again!)

Thanks for reading

It sounds like the router has reverted to its original settings.

Does anyone else connect to this router? What was its original name? What happens if you plug directly in with a cable, does your internet work?

IF you can connect to the internet by ethernet cable try connecting to your routers web address by typing your IP address into the search box and from their you should be able to reconfigure your router and connect to the web,i have also got a netgear router and this has worked for me.

I will try it with the ethernet cable, and let you know what happens. How do I find out what my IP address is? Thanks

Sorry forgot to answer the other questions, we have 2 laptops running off this router, and its origional name was just netgear.

From Start,Run,type cmd into the box and enter, which will bring up a box with a black ground and type in there config/all and then enter,it will show you how you are connected and you IP address.
