Is it safe to dig up a re-set trees?
Hi there planted a few trees a while back and one now has quite a big lean following the strong winds. I didn't stake them, as I've written on here before.
What's the best thing to do. It was planted back in April so can I dig it out, re-set it, then stake it OR can I put a stake in and then pull it into position with this whilst letting it right itself? If the stake is removed and it falls back into its old position I've gained nothing.
Advice welcome.

I had a similar problem earlier in the year and after advice on here, dug it up and replanted it. It was fine and has done well this year. I think I'd wait a few months though until its dormant (unless its really bad) or be prepared to water it frequently if you do it now.0

Thanks for this. I went to a garden centre for some advice. I came away with 3 tree stakes and some flexible ties. They said not to dig it up if at all possible. I've staked them at a 45 degree angle and they're a lot better now. I've managed to pull one straight with the stake / tie and the one that I was concerned about that had the lean has been pulled slightly more upright so I'm happy as thing stand. They still have the opportunity to rock and move, but the big holes around the trunk no longer appear after strong winds. So the stakes seem to have done the trick. I'll keep them in place at least until the end of the next season and take it from there.0
