easy way to put songs from ipod into itunes after reformat?

Can any one advise is there any easy way to get the songs from my ipod back into itunes? Had to have the pc reformatted and apples site isn't exactly user friendly. Some songs i have cds for but i lot i downloaded from amazon. I heard that you can pay for the convience but not sure which site to use or is there a free way? It's very annoying cos i want to put some new stuff on whilst keeping my old.

Download sharepod its free , run sharepod plug in ipod , dont open itunes , with sharepod back up ipod into my music , close sharepod open itunes copy files from my music into itunes.

The easiest way is to restore the backup you made before reformatting...

Steve doesn't want you to copy your music back from your iPod into iTunes, but there are programs available (see previous post) which can do it.
