So...Hello everyone...I wish to ask for "heeeelp"!
(i will apologise in advance but i'm very ill and on a lot of morphine, please try to understand! i'm just a little brain addled!)
i always research a product for weeks/months before buying and amazon were the cheapest until i found the comet item which was £50ish discounted plus another £106 with a voucher code.
i checked on this site AFTER ordering the computer from comet, and i don't know what to do now. they had the cheapest apple pc price (down £160ish after using a discount code)
i ordered via their website today around 6pm.
they then email me
email states my order has been passed to admin team because they were unable to process my payment with the details i provided. and told to call them
i then call them and they say it's prob because i didn't give my home and day/mobile tel no's, which they need for an order costing
this much (over £1000) i had entered zero's like i always do on any site that asks me, since i am member of TPS/MPS. i said fair enough & gave my mobile no. girl says order has been re-ordered and some fraud check type admin team will call before 8pm
at 7.30pm i ring them again and ask what's happening?
young guy says my order is in a queue to be checked. so i ask him to check my order price details. they were incorrect and they were going to put my order through without the promo code/discount which had £150ish discount. (£120 cheaper than amazon)
i then receive automated fraud check call from my visa card provider asking to verify the amount. the amount was correct so i verify it.
then i see the HORROR stories on here re: comet!!!
having had another look at their email, it says they will undertake a number of "checks" & will contact me within 48hrs to either arrange delivery if o.k, or the reason why the order could not be completed and what to do next.
i am not in ANY debt, etc. even for this purchase i actually put £2,000 onto my credit card after paying off my monthly balance.
if they do ring me i will maybe cancel the order, if god forbid something were to go wrong with it or i needed after sales care, comet would be the last company i now want to do business with, after checking this site!
but if the order has gone through can i refuse at the time of delivery and ask for the distance selling refund change of mind thingy?
or since it's gone on a visa card and seeing that its an apple pc should i go through with it and if something were to go wrong...claim via visa or have it repaired under warranty by apple?
i'm seriously thinking of even calling them in the morning to cancel the order and forget about the £150ish discount if comet are so bloody awful?
the price after discounts is around £1,220
should i cancel if poss and buy elsewhere for £150 more or go ahead and hope i never have a problem with the apple p.c?
i guess the original fraud check/order cancel email was because i just used zeros instead of my tel no's and also maybe the voucher code which expired at end of business today.
please accept my apologies for the rambling nature, and also if im posting in the wrong area, or some other heinous mistake!!!

If I'm honest comet arnt that bad. The horror stories do exist but for each one there are millions of happy customers with cheap goods. The only retailer id suggest over comet are Apple themselves but Tbh, when buying an Apple product even if not from their store, they're usually more than excellent.
If I were you I'd be happy with the hefty discount and be safe in the knowledge that you have the goods and the excellent apple customer services behind you of something were to go wrong.
I'd also stop just typing 0's on orders. Providing you leave the boxes for passing info on to 3rd parties at the end blank, nothing will be done with your data and it will only be used in regards to the order. Just saves a lot of hassle.
Edited because i wrote on my phone with a few predictive text errors.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
Many thanks hudsonj!
I was quite fine thinking of my great discount, whence i thought "i'll just give comet a quick check on MSE" & nearly had a cardiac!
Plus morphine takes the edge off the pain but also the edge off the old mental processes!!!
