Student account; what proof do I need?

If someone were to have a spare nus card, and liked all the offers student get on their accounts what could one do to get an account or is it fairly difficult>? Maybe apply get the forms then pull out at the last minute??

Abit naughty but anyone done it?
Help me to help you :santa2:

You need to provide a "UCAS" number for the account which is a direct reference number to your application to universities. That's how HSBC does it anyway - no need for an NUS Card.

But after that once you've got proof of your confirmed offer at any university then the gifts are sent. HSBC's offer at the moment is an MP4 video player or 10 cd's ;)
  • Couldn't I get a number etc but not quite complete the course and so not pay any fees! or maybe are there any cheap courses and then get the number and sign up to all the student accounts?

You pay fees before the course starts, and I don't think there are refunds to be had if you drop out.

Fees aside, I can't believe you would consider going to all that trouble just to get access to some student accounts.

They will only issue you with the freebie once you have supplied your application number, then supplied the letter confirming you've got an unconditional offer to any university.

In theory you could attend interviews/go through the process but what's the point?? 10 CD's doesn't seem worth it and our MP4 player can be bought for around £60 too.
  • well I was thinking more about the 0% od and there are quite a few accounts - could sign up to them all!!

  • not really - as they often say you must have your student loan going in - and even then you might not get top overdraft limit
