    I've been Money Tipped!
I have had two morphy richards slow cookers and both the lids rocked. Like the previous poster, I did have a bit of bother with water spitting out after a while, no problem with the cooking process. Everything turned out fine.

  • I put a folded tea-towel over the lid of my slow cooker... it stops any "rocking" from steam pressure and any heat escape - works fine for me.

rang MR this morning and there is supposed 2 b a gap.
  • Ive recently bought a MR slow cooker and assumed the slight rock was because the crock is oval rther than circular. Does that make sense

Hi folks.............Have spoken at length today with (MR) Morphy Richards advisors who explained that there has to be a small gap to allow steam, or pressure to escape, the slow cooker is not an airtight sealed unit, and the cooking temperatures are so low, that lots of steam should be minimal. However my lid seemed to be a size smaller, due to the gap around the lid. MR advised that they would send me a new lid, but I suggested I return to Currys 1st to check another model. Low and behold, the display model had a perfect seal around the lid/flange of the crockpot with only a minimal amount of lateral movement, as it `rests` on the lip of the crockpot. But no visible gap? so we unwrapped a boxed cooker and after full examination discovered an almost perfect glove-fit for the lid. The Currys assistant then tried the original lid on the new cooker and found that it too fitted like a glove, but trying the two lids on the original pot there was a 3-4 mm gap around both of the longer sides of the oval lid. This led us to believe that the crockpot itself was at fault and not the lids. Ive re-contacted MR and thanked them for their initial advice, but advised them of what we discovered in-store at Currys, and that I was, at present, happy to have had my original purchase exchanged by Currys staff (I have their 3 Year insurance which allows for direct exchange instead of repairs..........this insurance is still valid for the next 3 years on my latest model, which has been washed, but not used just yet) The initial MR advisor was very pleasant with her help and offered to send a replacement lid, but I detected after a while, a sense of " Here's another newbie to slow cookers, what do they know, as I was quite persistant with my assesment of the size of the gap and the ammount of heat loss that would occur ?) Maybe MR have been making slow cookers for 20 Years, but there is always scope for one or two or..........who knows, but mine was faulty....so had it exchanged.....hope this helps others. take care
