Sorry about starting yet another thread, but I have grown concerned. I have the Morphy Richards 6.5litre SC and having read all the relevant threads, I am unsure if it is working properly.
The lid does not fit snugly - it rocks, and in some positions there is a 3mm gap between lid and pot. I suppose the water seal is formed, but this is broken as steam escapes. Unless you cover the contents in liquid, the top layer get dried out.
Does this sound right to anyone?
I've only used it five or six times, each time ending up with soup. The OH has called the lid 'warped', which must be unlikely, as it's glass and these makers know what they're doing right?
Please advise...

Just like Echo I had never seen an SC before, so had no idea. And I bought it months ago... But then if they made it wrong... I'll have a look if I can exchange it, thanks Twink.:wall:0

Agutka- i seem to remember that someone said that the Morphy Richards website was very helpful. Why dont you email them and explain the problem- they may send a replacement?
Goodluck!0 -
mmm, yes, i've just bought the paul rankin 5.5L one and it's doing the same, the lid doesn't rock but steam does escape and when i came home the other day there was water all over the work top and down the cupboard from the steam escaping. can't be right surely. someone mentioned sealing it with clingfilm which i might give a go but really i suppose i should take it back but it was on end of line clearance so i'll probably have to splash out more for another one!:mad:0

So the consensus is, steam is definitely not allowed out? But if you have it on a high setting and the contents are bubbling away, then surely some pressure must be released...
Jessie, yours sounds even worse - at least my steam runs down the pot, into the cooker bit - less mess.
Thank you Janb, I shall contact MR if only to find out it's all fine and dandy after all...:wall:0 -
If I was you I'd contact morphy richards. Their helpline telephone number is 08450 777700. If you have the model and serial number they are very good at sending replacements (products and parts) free of charge.

I've got the same thing! MR 6.5L (model 48715). My lid rocks (and I don't mean in a good way)
Trouble is - I've got a chicken in there!! Will I have a problem? It's the first time I've used it.
I'll ring MR tomorrow. Where would I find the serial number??:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
I have the 3.5l morphy richards slow cooker and my lid also rocks slightly, but i've never had any problems with using it. There is a bit of water that will 'spit' after a while when it's simmering, but not too much to cause an issue.0
