Anybody on this for their boiler and central heating? It seems more competitive than BG homecare 200. Thanks

  • HI - I changed to NPower homecare 50 back in July from British Gas...WHAT A MISTAKE!
3 missed appointments by them, just to start the policy, then finaly they came & boiler was condemend, called back out, then they said it shouldnt have been. Then last week, boiler broke.....we called , we waitied and guess what... no one turned up! Many phone calls later, cold house & hubby, a sad 3 year old that missedhis friends birthday all because mummy had to wait for the non-existant bolier man.....Npower did give us the option of staying in the local premier in til they fixed it....So now just waiting to hear back from customer services as to what they are going to do, and end this contract asap. Terrible customer serivces....or is it my bad luck?!

Don't bother with either-use a local independent RGI for your annual service, and put the money saved in a savings account in case you do get a problem. You'll savemoney and get vastly better service.

I foolishly switched to npower hometeam in december after 10 years with british gas.

Worst mistake I could have made - I was due an AM appointment yesterday (just for the service to be accepted on the plan despite having already paid a months cover).

No -one turned up despite two phone calls to them and being "you'll just have to wait until 7pm" at 6.45 when I called i was told they wouldnt be coming and I would get the first call of the day today.

I got a call at 7.55am to confirm and then the engineer called at 8.40 to say he would be 20 minutes we discussed parking and i told him if he gets stuck call me back and we'll sort something.

40 minutes later I got another call from their call centre saying he wouldnt be coming, as the only parking "was over an hour away" - how ridciculous, I live in Manchester and whilst parking may not be the best in the world i've never been forced to park an hours way in all the 10 years i've lived here.

The call centre manager has tried in vain to get the engineer to come back but to no avail as his own manager is backing him, so another half day wasted - and a new appointment for saturday.

Heaven only knows what the service would be like if god forbid my boiler should ever break down.

As someone who thought long and hard before leaving British Gas, my advice would be if they have looked after you stay where you are - better the devil you know.

I stopped by BG service agreement and found a local chap thru checkatrade and have been very impressed with him so far. He lives a few streets down and has always come out the same day and was even here on Christmas eve. I have spent less then I would have done with the old service agreement and I sleep soundly knowing that if there any problems I won't have to wait to get them fixed or risk being ripped off.

    Cheers Jim.

Wish I had someone local I could rely on.

I know it can be a struggle and I just got very lucky by finding a local chap who happens to be brilliant. Have you asked family and friends who they use/recommend?
