Ideas for hedging/covering a fence

Thanks Rosebud and Floss - this doesn't need pyracantha, as it's not a boundary fence (just a fence to keep the dog off the grass when the weather is REALLY bad!!) - they have pyracantha all along the main boundary fence (birds love it!)
I think I will go with the honeysuckle/jasmine idea - thanks everyone - I love these forums!Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Yey!! YIPPEE!!0 -
Hi
Just a word of caution - you say your fence is only 3' and that you want low maintenance plants - well both Jasmine and Honeysuckle are farly rampant after a couple of years and they will require major amounts of weaving in and pruning to maintain that height and a good framework as they are fast growing when established (not howere Russian vine standards!), I suspect that the amount of pruning required will end up pruning a lot of the flowering growth away.
Climbers by they're nature will go upwards so will need constantly tying in etc.Instead of a climber could you consider a small shrub perhaps?
Lavender is great as a low hedge or look here Once yearly clip and bobs your aunty
