There's no mobility component within AA. You need the mobility component (higher) to get a mobility car.

Fraid not and no carers allowance either if you are getting a pension. I think you get a bit extra if you get Pension Credit.

If you have an underlying entitlement to carers allowance, you get the £30.05 premium on top of pension credit.

Only with DLA can you get Motability, and that's for under 65's. Very unfair I know.

Unless one can claim War Pensioners Mobility Supplement which can be awarded at any age and also gives access to the Motability scheme.

    Hi,

War Pensioners Mobility Supplement is payable to those who receive a War Disablement Pension of at least 40% disablement and due to the accepted War Disablement cannot walk or are virtually unable to walk, or are both 80% deaf and blind.

If your wife is successful in her AA claim, do let the pension credit people know. If you are not already getting full council tax benefit (and, if renting, housing benefit) then let the council know too. It will mean you get additional benefits as well as the AA.

If she's successful, you can apply for Carer's Allowance. You won't get the full amount as you have a pension but you will receive some extra money.

Some people think that AA can only be spent on care but you can spend it on whatever you want so, if you want to put it towards getting a suitable car, you can.

My husband is in receipt of high rate AA. There is no carer's allowance payable to anyone claiming retirement pension. You can't have both.

I believe there will be an additional entitlement if pension credit is being claimed.
