Ex Company Car?
Comments
-
I bought [eBay] an ex fleet car that was three and a half hears old with 136,000 miles on the clock with full service history. It had done 40,000 a year for three years with one keeper!
A diesel of course.
Two and a half years and 3 first time pass MOTs later, it's now done 164,000 miles !0 -
For about 20 years I bought ex rep cars, typically approaching 3 years old with 80 to 90K on the clock. Mk11 cavs, mk111, cavs, claibra etc.
I honestly never had a bad one out of the 6 or 7 I boughtI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
As so many cars continue to be supplied new as "company cars", lease cars and hire cars, when you get to two and three years old, your second hand car is more than likely to have originated from this source. Don't worry about it, do the same checks you would do with any car and be happy you actually know where it came from.0

I have seen Mondeo, and Galaxies certainly hitting 500k miles as airport and taxi cars and the Focus you are looking at is a newer car. Its engineered to do 150k as a minimum and I know that some of the engine test guys I worked with have hit the 2 million mile mark with some of the engines in the focus but only fair to say this was in a lab with the engines no longer connected to a car.
?
My Focus Zetec diesel bought new 2001 has now done 215000 miles .... so I think that the OP engine still has a long way to go.
I would buy depending on price.

The big problem with buying ex company cars is you don't get to meet the driver and get an idea of what they're like.
I agree.
I bought a car off my company 3 years ago. A 2002 BMW E46 318ci. Really high spec (leather, climate, individual paint etc), and mileage to match (140k).
Full main dealer history and I knew the guy who drove it. He was a 45 year old rep, so not thrashed. Only issue is the stone chips on the bonnet from pounding and and down the motorway.
Paid £2300 for it, when book price for a average miler was £8500.

Ok, but I'm a bit older but back then my cars were well and trully, "used" as should be but not thrashed.
Stone chips are no issue, the only worry would be if it didn't have any, yeah?I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Personally I wouldn't touch a Ford with high mileage, they are built down to a price, I would sooner buy a slightly older one with less mileage/wear.
Not that i would ever buy a Ford in the first place..0 -
