I ordered some free seeds from the Dig It site a while back...............OH planted the 'french beans' in a tub, trellies around them for climbing......well, it turns out they're courgettes ! Whether they'll do any good or not I've no idea........wondering if as there were so many in the tub they'll be too cramped.
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

You might not get quite such a big crop as if they were in the open ground, as courgettes are very greedy for water & food, but you should still get a crop. Last year, I grew a courgette plant in an old laundry basket lined with a bin bag and it did OK, tho' the ones in the ground did better. Just remember it won't be able to get its roots down very far so keep it well watered & fed.

How big are the plants at the moment? How many in a pot of what size?

You might get away with it as foxgloves suggests, but courgettes normally like to take up about 1m square each.

We have to grow our veg in pots and have courgettes that always do very well.
OH put quite a few seeds in thinking this lot were french beans -pots about 20'' and about 10 seeds were planted. They don't look too bad as they're in a bigger pot then we would normally use for them anyway so fingers crossed.
If we get a good crop its a bonus -if we don't.....well win some, lose some I suppose. It''s just a bit annoying that the packet clearly said 'french beans'..............still they were freebie so I'm not complaining.
OH is giving them a good soaking every day

If you've got a 20" pot, you can have one courgette in it.
Any more and it will be a waste of time and you will need to water and feed well to get a crop then.

I'm a bit confused, french bean seeds look like beans and courgette seeds look like large normal classic seeds. Therefore impossible to make a mistake and if you've grown them before, you should have easily known what bean seeds are supposed to look like.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.

OH planted the seeds -he's planted both sorts other years - think he was going by what it said on the packet rather than what they looked like. Just goes to show things aren't always what you think they are and maybe best to double check next year.
They're doing ok so far anyway.
