GP Wont Fill In Health Insurance Claim

I have a major problem here. My hubby has been signed off sick from work by GP. We have had terrible financial difficulties with our business and were locked out of our work premises by our landlord as we were 2 weeks in arrears with the rent. The constant stress has been building up for a long time and eventually my hubby broke down and visited the Doctor. The doctor signed him off work with 'Stress'. We have now filled in 2 health Insurance claim forms for sickness cover, one for our morgage and one for a loan with Lloyds TSB. When we took these to the GP to fill in the medical part he said he was unable as the stress was due to his work so he couldnt put this on the form. We have not been with this doctor for long and he has been less than helpful at the best of times. Has anyone got any ideas of where we can go from here. I am at my wits end. Hubby has just gone off somewhere and I dont know how much more he can put up with. He is stating now that he believes that the Doctor is in cahoots with the Insurance company. Anyone else had problems getting health insurance forms filled in?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Discuss the problem with your insurer. Maybe you can authorise them to contact the doc. direct.0

It's not just that he wants paying and has explained it badly is it?0

Phone the GP Practice Manager, explain the situation and ask them how to proceed. Possibly if it is a new GP they are unsure of their role. If there is a fee for doing so the PM will explain that.0

Check the policy wording carefully to see what they will and won't pay for, then go back to the doctor and show him if necessary - he doesn't know all the small print on every insurance policy.
Failing that, are there any other doctors in the practice? Could you get a second opinion from one of them?
I wouldn't go to the insurance company until you really need to as they might use any info you give them at this point to avoid paying you.0 -

A doctor is not required to know the ins and outs of every insurance policy to enable him to complete an insurance form, and won't take too kindly to being asked to read up on them!0 -
There is a charge for him to fill them in which we knew about. He just says he cant fill it in because it is his situation thats caused him stress.0

As others have advised I would go to the practice manager.
I think what the GP is saying that it's the financial situation that's caused the stress so I think he's under the impression that it would be wrong to claim on the insurance because it's not an illness.
But anyways you need someone indepenednt involved.0 -
Thanks Pedro I think that will be useful.
I have just been to the GP about something different and it would appear that he has filled in the Lloyds TSB claim form but could not do my mortgage one. I have had a word with the receptionist who is going to speak with the Practice Manager.
What a total nightmare. This is all as stressful as the episode that started it all off.0 -
He is probably acting with the best on intentions even if he is wrong.0
