and remember the scrappage thing distorted the market so second hand value can move in both directions so it could be that a replacement for the A3 will cost more today than the original car cost three months ago.
The FOS guidelines say the insurance company should take the average of the three common guides, (I think parker, glasses & Cap).
They are obliged to discount any that are significantly out of line (so if they got 10,300, 10,400 and 9,000 then they should ignore the 9,000) and they are required to make the fair offer promptly so if they make stupid offers or drag it out needlessly then a complaint to the FOS for compensation can follow.0
