320GB SATA 7200rpm Internal for as little as £70.07 delivered - JUST 21.9p per GB

Maplin are doing this as a special offer until 3rd October

Code A53FB

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=A53FB&DOY=9m9

SAVE £40 Reduced from £119.99 to £79.99

Everyone who signs up for their newsletter can get discount codes
Standard ones are £3 off £50+, £7 off £100+, £15 off £200 and £30 off £400
So at least £3 off and any order over £35 is free delivery

That makes it £76.99
QUIDCO will give you 3% which equates to £2.31
Pay with a cash back credit card like mine (EGG) and get another 1% (77p)

That makes it £73.91

WAIT I hear you all cry - title says "for as little as £70.07"

Well for some/most/all previous Maplin subscribers/customers they quite possibly had a snail mail delivery from Maplin yesterday drop through their letter box.
I KNOW I DID !!!!

Included with the special offer leaflet is a personalised offer leaflet that says ..

"As a loyal and valued customer you have been awarded your very own exclusive money off vouchers. £3 off £35+, £5 off £50 AND
£7 OFF £75"

This is not the first time I've received such vouchers - probably get them 4 to 6 times a year.

Anyway - for me it will be £79.99 - £7 = £72.99

£72.99 - £2.19 (3% quidco) - 73p (1% Egg CC) = £70.07

so all you Maplin customers look through your mail and don't discard this as "junk mail" - even if you don't want this hard drive - there's upto 10% off coupons in there (for just £50) - the best newsletter ones are only 7.5% and you have to spend £200 to get it !

Do Maplin have the same prices in-store as on the web?

Incidentally this is a SATA drive which will be fine in many modern PCs but make sure your's will take it.
    Can I help?

Id rather spend an extra £6 and get a well known brand as I cant see any mention of a make on maplins site and twice as much cache.

I've always found this to be the case - you can always print off any online page if any doubt and take it with you to guarantee the same price.
They will also take the discount codes, sent by email or post or available online, over the counter so you don't lose out in store.
Sadly the QUIDCO 3% is for online transactions only but all P&P is free providing you spend £35 so why visit a store execpt to inspect and goods.
I've had several deliveries within 48 hours of ordering so they are quick.

Agreed that the brand is not apparent and double cache may be an advantage, but Maplins have the far better reputation and can easily be visited if any problems occur.

The extra £6 is actually over £10 given that cheapest postage is £4.03

Thats true but still for £10 I really wouldnt like to try and save a bit of money due to the potential of data loss.

I know you get it on all drives but if its a joe bloggs model then I would be even more worried about it.
  • to be honest this really isn't all that cheap. Have a look on ebuyer/scan/dabs etc and you can get hds cheaper with more gbs.
This is good still though, as you can go pick it up and take it back within a year if it develops problems easily.

Be careful not to be stung by the SATA interface, most older pc's need IDE.

    You forgot the P&P
This site charges a minimum of £4.75 + VAT

But for this particular item it would be £8.00 + VAT = £9.40

    So total cost is £73.97

And I rarely go to the high street for computer parts but I still use Maplin online and get free delivery to my door !
