Kitchen installation problems

Any advice on the following greatly appreciated:
MIL ordered a kitchen with installation from major DIY store in March
Payment for fitting and installation received in full by company in May
Kitchen units delivered last Friday, MIL phoned store to confirm arrival and was told to make sure her cupboards were empty Monday morning ready for workmen
Monday lunch time she rings workman to ask his whereabouts and was told by him that he was informed in April the installation had been cancelled
She was absolutely heartbroken yesterday, with all the contents of her kitchen boxed up in her dining room. It now seems that a gang of fitters has possibly been arranged to fit the kitchen next week.
She has been offered £100 in store vouchers - to which she told the regional manager she would never be spending another penny with them so has been offered a cheque instead. She paid them £8,000 all in all. Am I being harsh in expecting a little more than £100 compensation??
Cheers,
DW

Its annoying but £100 seems fair for the extra week of minor inconvenience (having units sit around) and the inconvenience of unpacking all the stuff an extra time. I'd leave it be for now.Back by no demand whatsoever.0

agreed, £100 is fair in the circumstances.
the cynic in me might not bank the cheque until the install has been finished though, just in case there are any other problems.0 -
Yeah for one extra week £100 is fair. The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
