What job title should i put for Car Insurance?

I have recently lost my job as I was off work sick and unable to return. I have been looking at my car insurance renewal and I am not sure what to put as my job description.
If I put unemployed they want to charge me an extra £25 even though I now hardly use my car because I am not working.
I am signed off work at the moment but now have no job to go back to but I can't find an option for disabled etc (not sure if I would fall into this).
If I put housewife it was what I paid before (£25 less than unemployed) only problem is I am single.
Any advice

You are unemployed. Putting anything else would leave you at risk to them cancelling the insurance in the event that you need to claim.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Had a look at the definition for housewife and it doesn't say you have to be married would I be able to put this as I can't work due to my health.0

Money Saving Expert has a handy little Job Picker tool that can help you (do a Google search for "job picker").
I think I once read somewhere that something like "account manager" or "marketing manager" gives the lowest quotes, but I'm not 100% sure on that. I'd say give it a go and see what comes up.0 -
I'm definitely no expert, but I don't see why you can't put housewife. Technically, you're not unemployed as you're not actively seeking work due to your ill-health, so that probably makes you a housewife, otherwise, what is the distinction between the two?0

How can the OP possibly define themselves as a houseWIFE if they are single?0

As I said, I'm no expert, but as the OP stated, theres nothing in the definition of housewife that says they have to be married :-
"Housewife - A woman who manages her own household as her main occupation."
I suspect that legally in this day and age, you wouldn't even need to be a woman to declare yourself as a housewife.
But all that's irrelevant, what the OP really needs to know is how the insurance company defines housewife, unemployed or any other category that the OP thinks they might fall into.0 -
That's one definition, but just look at the definitions returned by:
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&hs=AbH&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&channel=s&q=define%3A+housewife&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=
The occupation should be entered as unemployed unless you have confirmation from the insurer that 'housewife' is acceptable to them in the circumstances.0 -

Are you aware that your website does not display any FSA reference number, displays no contact number or contact address which are all not good0 -
and this is why this picker should be removed.
the OP is clearly unemployed and nothing else; the rest of the suggested options are paramount to fraud. Would the op be having this debate if unemployed was cheaper? of course not. answers the question for me.0 -

Quite. Many insurers will now check the quote logs should any discrepancies come to light at the points of claim, and if the logs show that the insured has 'played around' with the occupation and business to get a lower rate then void policies are the almost inevitable result. In any case, given that so many insurers will not quote for the unemployed, you're looking a void policies even where the misrepresentation is deemed inadvertent. IMO the job picker is irresponsible no matter how many warnings you put on it.0
