Putting plate on retention

I am trying to sell my car privately. It also has a personal plate on it (was on when I bought it but have become attached) that I want to keep. Also, the road tax is due at the end of the month.

If I appear in person at my local dvla, can they give me the paper work for the cars new "appropriate year plate" right away to get new tax etc. Or should I buy new tax, then change over.

Or perhaps you can suggest another way of doing it, ta.

From past experience you will be better changing the plate asap and then doing the tax as you will only have to send the tax back anyway when the new reg is issued.

Main thing is do the reg transfer before the sale not after or you are totally reliant on the new keepers honesty. ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

I think I have left it too late now! But I think I can take my tax reminder and mot, etc and get the plate swapped and the car taxed at the same time. Not exactly busy with offers to buy it..
