Temporary car insurance, sister visiting from Holland. Car currently uninsured.

My sister, who now lives in The Netherlands, will be visiting shortly and as I have a car which is not being used thought she could use it if I can find some insurance. The car is currently not insured as I changed it recently but still has tax.
All the sites I have tried will not give insurance:
a) because she is not a UK resident
or
b) because the car currently does not have any insurance policy (or at least that is an assumption as I tried with registration number of another car which is insured and it was OK)
Can anybody suggest where I might be able to find an insurance company who would give me insurance for about a week in these circumstances.
Thanks
Chris

Presuming that she has a car herself in the Netherlands, could she not be covered on this by insurance policymake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Thanks for the suggestion. Must admit I hadn't considered that but think it is unlikely as the car is in another country and also it has no current insurance.
My own insurance policy allows me to drive another car and have third party cover but only applies if there is already another policy in force on that vehicle. Pretty sure that is a standard on all policies except maybe those for the motor trade.0 -
Checked with sister and not possible to get cover from her insurance company in Netherlands. Still not found anyone here who will provide cover.0

I tried to get insurance for a lease car our company had available for a South African - no joy at all. The car was in the carpark and not otherwise insured (well it had a sort of trade policy, just for theft)Unless it is damaged or discontinued - ignore any discount of over 25%0

Could you not just insure it on an annual policy with her as a named driver and then cancel within the 14 days cooling off period?0

Your policy allowing you to drive another car on a third party basis will almost certainly state that the car must not be owned by, or hired or leased to you. If this is the case, you would not be covered. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0
