  • The website is operated by LandMark. It has been around for 4 years or so and was taken off line at one point as it was being used a lot and they were not making any money from it. Its its good for establishing whether your property is in a Radon affected area for example. The website quoted https://www.homecheck.co.uk is only to be used as a guidance. Its great to look at when you are intending to purchase a property as a guideline. They also operate a professional website that solicitors use to order the reports. An environmental report should take no longer than a week to obtain. Take a look at https://www.groundsure.co.uk You might be able to order direct from them and they are are quoting 48 hours for their reports.
  • A good site to check for any mobile base stations / masts, that at present may not be included in your environmental report is http://www.sitefinder.radio.gov.uk/ go to "Find GB Site" - Enter your postcode and search, the results with be listed below the map.
  • I think upmystreet.com gives more useful info

Hi stphnstevey, although http://www.upmystreet.com/ gives some excellent information, I wasn't aware that it gave reports on local enviroment such as flooding, landfill sites, radon affected areas, subsidence ect, hence why I posted the homecheck site
  • I don't think these sites take into account the actual topography of an area.
They all state I'm at risk of flooding because I live within 500m of the sea, BUT I'm also half way up a small mountain and it would take a great big tsunami to reach me!

The reports are designed as a guide only and are not specific to an actual property.
  • Sorry, the idea is good but they are not specific enough. If they at best have a 50:50 % chance of getting it right (as the previous posts have shown), I may as well take a wild guess myself and I'll be as accurate.

Sorry for being negative and the idea might have promise, but at this level it is not much use.
  • Blimey stphnstevey!!

OK so the site isn't property specific but that's not what it's meant to be, it is a free site after all.

I found it a useful guide out of interest more than anything else before my solicitor does the searches on my property that I'm buying.

You seem extremely arrogant, especially as vickijh32 is a relitively new poster, cut some slack.

    - Thank you vickijh32. I found the site of use and I also ended up looking up other areas but that's just because I'm nosey!!

I guess it's one you won't be adding to your favs then.
