London to Leeds, and back again, without backruptcy?

I'm very new to this and splitting just seems so complicated - am I just being dumb?

I've used national express before and reckon it's fantastic.

What would be the cheapest way to make this return journey? Does anyone do it regularly?

    1) Book train tickets when the cheap tickets become available up to 12 weeks before date of travel - see eastcoast.co.uk

    2) Book Megabus as soon as the tickets become available - see megabus.com

    3) Book National Express as soon as the tickets become available - see nationalexpress.co.uk
  • And have a look at flying too. You often get some very competative deals.

And if your between 16-25 yrs of age, then get a 16-25 Railcard

For walk on split ticketing, then try Grand central trains London to York, Doncaster or Wakefield or Hull trains London to Doncaster.

We did this not too long ago

    4 tickets

    leeds - birmingham

    birmingham - leeds

    and back again.

both journeys had an hours break in Birmingham for a coffee etc.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • I think national express seems to cheapest way to go with a £10 return booking around 12 weeks in advance.

Takes 4 hours each way but I'm an arts student with far too much time on my hands anyway!

    Thanks for your help!
