I have what I think is an Ash tree in the front garden about 30 foot high which I would like to remove. Any idea what this would cost.

Hi. I had two similar sized trees (ash & conifer) removed about two years ago, cost £80. Took two men just under 2 hours.0

Whether you want to do it yourself really depends on how much space you've got to drop it into. If you're fairly happy climbing it (avoid dead branches!), get up there wit a bow saw or pruning saw and start cutting branches off. Easiest way is to start at the bottom and work your way up, cutting off the branches and leaving the trunk alone. Once you've got the trunk bare, with a ladder up against it, tie a rope around the top section and get a mate to pull one way, if it's leaning then pull in that direction, make a small cut in the side he's pulling to help it fall, and then start cutting in from the other side. Top comes off, and work your way down. Easy if you're happy with saws and ladders.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

60 quid for a chainsaw , cut it into logs and flog it
i cut a real big tree down in a garden of a house in bulgaria i own. I used an axe it was good fun when it toppled, but hard work0 -
Ash is a fab wood for fires if it's seasoned. To save yourself the effort of getting rid, you could just make a sign for the front of your house - free firewood for collection. It'll soon be off your hands.0
