how long after do late payments affect your credit file

i have a few late payments and mainly AP's on one credit account. if i get this paid off, how long after till its 'clean' again, and how long after till 'prime' credit cards would accept me, considering every thing else on my credit file is green 0's!?

Do you have any defaults? If so, then you'll be looking at a bare minimum of three years flawless account conduct.

no, no defaults. apart from the 1 overdraft, all other credit accounts are perfect bar one late payment on loan in december 2008
