Will my account application successful?

hi,

I called the natwest telephone banking and they ask me if want to upgrade my step account and i said yes,and then they told me I can upgrade to advantage gold(should passed the credit check).after two days,I received the application form and term and conditions, also they asked me to provide the indentification and address.I did it.Yesterday,I call them, they said my application being referred,I don not know why? i asked them if it has the possibility I will be declined and they saw dont know.

Who has such experience?

Passing the credit check doesnt means my application will be successful?

It looks like you were told by someone that you fit the criteria, rather than actually passing. It seems you haven't passed the automated checks, but if your application is being referred, then someone will be looking at your personal circumstances to see if you qualify anyway.
  • But I have asked them, they said the check has been done.
  • Maybe something has gone wrong, does sound a bit strange I admit. If you do get accepted don't keep it as advantage gold rather than current plus unless you are are 100% sure it will be worth the £12 per month to you. Otherwise go for current plus (current account but free, accepted for one, you will be accepted for the other)

These are the advantages according to Natwest.com

Annual 5-star travel insurance worth £160 (hmmm... I don't pay that much for mine, I get European insurance free with A&L free current account)
Mobile Phone Insurance worth £120 (I've got a cheap phone I don't need insurance)
£5,000 Identity Theft Insurance worth £30 (I'm careful to shread everything... ain't happened to me yet... I'll risk it to save £144/year)
£10,000 accidental death benefit worth £12 (£10k for my death... I'd want more than that as insurance if I was at risk of dying or had people depending on me, at present I'm 22 with no mortgage living with parents)
10% off car insurance worth £55 (only worth it if nobody can quote you cheaper than Natwest... ain't gonna happen!)
25% off home insurance worth £39 (ain't gonna happen)
Extended warranty worth £54 (know your rights as a consumer... one year being up doesn't mean the product is automatically out of guarantee)
Travellers Cheque Card £15 (A free Nationwide account can sort this... nobody needs it)
Commission-free travel money worth £28 (Again get a Nationwide account and you don't need this, £28 at Natwest's rates, maybe less with someone else's and more with someone else's)
Travel service £100 (just shop around for the cheapest holiday, you won't gain anything from this if you do)
Worldwide hotels worth £63 (as above)
10% off home electrical goods worth £59 (to save £144 at this rate you need to buy one hell of a lot of electrics)
20% off CDs and DVDs worth £19.95 (as above)
20% off UK attractions £10 (but are you going to go to any of them)

    Total value £765
    Advantage annual fee (i.e. just £12 a month) £144
    Your potential savings £621

Now calculate exactly which things you would spend money on if you didn't have advantage gold but are getting free with advantage gold (and can't get free some other way), if it comes to over £144 it is worth it, I seriously doubt it though. I wonder how many people make more than 5% of the £621 potential saving (few!) and how many make a loss from it (90+%)

I work for Natwest and I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, my branch manager reads this site and he doesn't know who I am!
If you don't like what I say slap me around with a large trout and PM me to tell me why.

If you do like it please hit the thanks button.

    Hiya,

I was recently upgraded to a Advantage Gold account, how do I go about getting it changed to a Current Plus account? Will I be able to keep the same account numbers etc? I can’t be doing with all the DD changes again but I really am not benefiting from the £12 a month it’s costing me. I only upgraded as I figured it would help my credit.

Just go into the branch and they should revert it back to current plus, should be no need to change anything other than the account name and not charge you for it.
