Hi there! We’ve had to remove your signature. It was so good we removed it because we cannot think of one so good as you had and need to protect others from seeing such a great signature.

If you are a brand tart then don't even bother.

There are certain things also in Aldi which do suffer due to a lack of choice, such as nappies and cleaning products, as if the quality of one is awful, e.g. the nappies, you do not have a choice of another brand.

The quality of the meat, yoghurts, cooked meat especially, and frozen ready meals and food is very very good though.

Decent "non branded" booze as well!

I have been using pampers nappies for 18 months and have now moved on to Aldi nappies they are just as good and half the price. I also find the cleaning products as good as any leading brand. I have tried the dishwasher tablets they are good and they do a fabric softener that smells just like baileys. I haven't tried their washing powder yet.
  • OP you are safe at Aldi, do not worry! Just go in and buy everything you fancy and try it, the quality is fine and what you like etc will be down to personal taste. I went in today and they have won loads of awards for best tasting food and quality (they had signs up next to the relavent products). Price-wise it is a bit more expensive than Tesco value brand but not as expensive as own brand so if you are not a value brand shopper then you will save money and get better food.

Yes I will second the nappies!
We use washables at home and ALDI when out and about. They never leak, even a 12 hour night and they are fine. No problems!
Also the dodgy-looking fat grey sausages in the chiller are absolutely amazing! Got them cos they were gluten free and thought it was worth a try, oh my goodness they are fab all brown and bursty under the grill.
Hmm I know what I want for tea :rotfl:

    I'm an Aldi fan too!

Do the majority of weekly shop there, the exceptions being bread and milk from farm foods and any other 'special offers' elsewhere.

The fruit/veg is cheaper and lasts longer than Tesco and when i did a like for like comparison the Aldi price was around £16 compared to the same stuff in Tesco for £26.

I can second the Lasagne, a large one (1kg) was £2 something and was delicious.

Their prepacked cold meats are lovely and far cheaper than elsewhere.

The probiotic drinks are much cheaper and DH says that actually taste better than the brand name ones.

They have lovely frozen fish (although not a great variety at any time)

Their sour cherry jam is to die for and I usually buy several jars at a time.

My dog loves their brand dog food in foils which is a lot cheaper and I have also just changed over to a large bag of their kibble which she seems to eat happily too.

Lots of their other 'bargains' are good too. Recently bought sleeping bags for our caravan which were £6.99 each and they have been fine for use.

Oh and last week I bough crayfish tails for £1 something which were a real treat and easily enough for 2 people to have a lunch on.
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!

I'll give the nappies a big thumbs up as well. I had previously used Huggies with DS and Pampers with DD and would say the Aldi ones are much better. I have never had the gel out of them leak and I think they hold more liquid as well. We are now onto the comfy pants for night as DD is out of nappies during the day and find these great and considerable cheaper than pull ups etc.
