First service of car
My first service of a Ford vehicle is due. I have asked two places. One quoted around £102 and the other where the new vehicle was purchased quoted £175. How could so much differ?
Option one replied:
The fully inclusive cost is £101.18
Option two replied:
£175 inclusive of Parts, Labour and VAT
Warranty Checks
Paint and Body Check
Wash of your vehicle
Option one was also taken from the manufacturers nearest service locator. Could I trust something that is cheap? Is a premium price worth paying for?
What should I watch out in general?

The cheaper one should be fine. I'm guessing they're both ford main dealers? Ask the second to price match the first if you'd prefer the second.0

Go here http://www.etis.ford.com/fordservice/serviceScheduleForm.do;jsessionid=CC81327D4335CB3D4E3E7A4D886D63AD.walv0673 and you can find what the service consists of. They seem to do 2 levels of service. The first one quoted is probably for the basic interim service (change the oil and kick the tyres).0

The first service is usually nothing more than an oil and filter change so should not cost that much.
Although make sure that the parts used conform to the manufacturer's warranty - otherwise the warranty will be invalidated. A good company / garage will give you this confirmation without any issues.0 -
Oil + Filter maybe £40
1 hours labour £35-£50“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Had my first service done a month ago.
1. They misled me about the service intervals.
2. They misled me about the frequency the oil has to be changed (car tells you when the oil needs done independant of other serive items.
3. I am convinced they never put in the correct type of oil for my car with DPF.
4. There is no number 4.
5. They went and washed it and left it in the sun to get marks all over it, I spent 4 hours the day before washing and polishing it etc arghh...
All from a main dealer.0 -
Stuff 'em. conditionally that is.
Change your own oil and filters, But the correct spec stuff for your car, keep all dated reciepts
If there is any problem under waranty they have to prove the car has not been serviced correctly.
Or for peace of mind, you can allow yorself to get ripped orf,:D
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
