Gold Trail – Help please advise

Hi,
I am having a problem and was hoping people could advise. I booked last week my holiday to Turkey. This involved me using a company covered under ATOL called Media Travel (they also use the name Travel Club) that was phoned on Holiday Teletext. I purchased my holiday as a package, this was the flights, transfers and accommodation. Now I purchased this with my VISA Debit, I know I should have used my Credit Card and deeply regret it now

I received a receipt for this payment. Upon further investigation I noticed they used three different companies to create my holiday.

Holiday Taxis – For the Transfer
ABC Beds – For the accommodation
Gold Trail – For the Flights, this includes the baggage

Now Gold Trail has gone bankrupt which I will now have to claim through ATOL. My main concern here is I am worried that any cancellation charges that Media Travel receives from either ABC Beds or Holiday Taxis will be passed onto me. I have tried to speak to Media Travel today and they told me they did not know the outcome and will call me back, which they never did.

Now surely as purchased a package from them and did not purchase these items individually I should be covered from a third party cancellation charges. I will continue to chase these characters tomorrow, but I doubt I will get a response or the answer that I want.

Just as a side note, did you have travel insurance?

Technically your contract is through Gold Trail. Its possible those companies are part of the same parent company?

I mean is that who has actually taken payment from you or was that itemised on a invoice goldtrail sent?

yes your contract is with gold trail, unfortunatly it could take months to get paid back and insurance would not cover this kind of problem however you should get refunded in full from atol.

Depends on the insurance policy. Thomas Cooks used to. Dont know if it still does but it definitely did 5-7 years ago. People regularly will just go for the cheapest insurance, not realising that the extra £1 could cover them for more scenarios and/or have less of an excess to pay.

if you used a visa debit card you have the same protection as if you had used a credit card.
