Hi there
I wonder if anyone can help before I put my tv out and buy a new one. We have a Toshiba 26" LCD it is 2 years old but recently when we first switch it on there is no picture just a redish band at the top. For the next 30 mins we get intermittent pictures which freeze and then fade. There is also a lighter area on the top right quarter of the screen. Is this repairable or do I need a new tv.
Have tried all the scarts they are all ok and it happens regardless of whether we are on sky or dvd player. The sound continues with no problems.
It reminds me of my grampa's tv which had to warm up the tubes:rotfl:
Now last question what is technika like for tv's because i can't afford a lot and they are reasonable on tesco.com with free 3 year warrenty
Thanks for your time

Have a look at this and the threads it links to for advice on dealing with Toshiba:

Sorry to hear the TV has failed after just 2 yrs... technika is really not a choice you need to consider for now try and get the tele repaired somehow and save up for a real TV....0

Do you still have the receipt or other proof of purchase?
A TV should last longer than 2 years, even if the warranty is less than that.
Politely demand a repair or replacement and don't take no for an answer.

Rather than buy a new one, how about going to one of the local auctions and buying one from there? A few years ago we bought our TV new. It was a bargain at the time - A £800 TV bought for £478 from Currys. A few months ago I saw our exact same TV at auction. It sold for..... £10! Working perfectly.0
