transferring a Northern Ireland vehicle to new mainland owner
I am thinking of buying a camper van and I have seen one I like but it is currently in Northern Ireland and obviously on Irish number plates.
Can I just drive this vehicle into the UK, register it in my name and continue to drive it on its original Northern Ireland plates or do I have to re register it at some point ?
Also, are there any hidden costs in bringing such a vehicle to the mainland
your help appreciated

Vehicles moving between GB and Northern Ireland (NI)
Vehicles registered in NI that move to GB are no longer classed as being imported to GB. Also, vehicles registered in GB moving to NI are no longer classed as being imported to NI.
These vehicles can keep their GB or NI plates and tax disc, or they can request the registration plate to where they are going, GB or NI.
The vehicle registration certificate Northern Ireland (V5CNI) should be used to aid registration in GB and applications should be made at a DVLA local office.

Northern Ireland is part of the UK- there are a few points with changing to the English licence plate, but it is a valid uk one.0
