I've noticed that there are a few threads on here relating to poor conditions in rented accommodation. I've mentioned once or twice that councils are now using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) to identify hazards and give them a "score". We can then take action based on the scores.
Some of you may wish to know what the hazards are and how they are rated. There is downloadable guidance on what used to be the ODPM website. I think it's now the communities website. There is a document available called, "HHSRS - Operating Guidance." This is not a particularly easy read but if you can get to grips with the basics it might be useful.
Just don't try to learn too much of it, otherwise you'll know more than me if I turn up on your doorstep to do a survey. That would be very annoying.
Sorry, but I'm not very good at doing links and stuff. Perhaps somebody else might be able to do it?

No worries. The Enforcement guidance might also be useful. Just have a look around the website and you'll probably find what you need to know.0
