No Gas Compliance Certificate

Hoping for some advice regarding a gas compliance certificate. We had a boiler installed in Feb 2007 and the fitter filled out a page in the back of the book which came with the boiler with his details etc.
We are currently selling the house and the solicitor has asked for the certificate. I had already taken the book with other guarantees to the solicitor so couldn't check to see what this certificate was. Would this be a compliance certificate or should we have received something else?
Is it possible to have someone come out and check the boiler and issue a safety certificate?

It would be a CORGI or GAS SAFE certificateto show the installation complied with building regs.
I imagine someone will ask for indemnity if you dont have it - if you have a copy of the last service from someone like British Gas that should pacify most purchasers0 -
The fitting certificate is normally in the back of the installation book. So it would appear that your solicitor already has what he needs.0

What you are looking for is the Building Regulations Completion Certificate. A gas boiler installation is notifiable under the building regulations. This is normally done by the Gas Safe registered engineer reporting the install to Gas Safe Register who in turn notify the Local Authority Building control. The LABC then accept the installation meets the building regs as it has been done by a member of a competent persons scheme. You will then be issued a certificate.
If I was you I would check that the engineer/company are Gas Safe Registered as unregistered cowboys cannot report an installation so this is often the reason a boiler hasn't got a certificate.
If they are I would ask them to re-register it. I''m sure it would be fine doing that. The cost is minimal. £2+VAT I think.0
