    Seems like Im flogging a dead horse here as everyone is happy to buy from fradulent listings apparently. Good luck to you all.

    gee, i guess you've never been scammed on ebay, had paypal take money out of your account when its not your fault, had an item you really wanted bid up by a shill bidder, or had something you really needed to sell bought by someone who wants it shipped to nigeria??

    its not nice when it takes longer than you thought to get it delivered, but hey, there are a LOT worse things happening on ebay and ebay are doing sod all about them either.

    I do feel ebay do nothing about fraudsters. We are having trouble with a person not sending stuff we paid for. Someone else has said the same about this particular trader.

    Usually it is clearly stated that it is shipped from overseas and it your choice whether you want to trade with them or not.

    I wouldn't like it if I thought I was buying from the UK and it turns out I am not.

    I used to think ebay was a good site but I do wonder nowadays.
    An average day in my life:hello: :eek::mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T :o :rotfl: :rotfl: :p :eek::mad: :beer:
    I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.

    Thanks CCSter. Thought I was going mad and was the only one that believed this to be an issue worth mentioning.

    Its worth mentioning, but in the great scheme of things ebay have a lot of other bigger issues that they should be resolving first. And arent.

    Wouldnt you agree?

    That really was my point as well. I never disputed the fact that items showing the wrong location are a problem in a small fraction of categories, but assuming we don't all want to have our fees put up, then I'd prefer ebay to concentrate their efforts on real scams. Those nasty ones where new people are suckered into paying for high end goods using bank transfers or cheques from a hijacked account for instance.

  • I dont think so - I have been on Ebay for 4 years and can honestly say in over 2000 transactions I have only once been sent dodgy goods - and I got a refund.

    Ebay is fab - and as long as you adhere to a few simple rules - its 99.9% safe.
  • must admit that sounds right to me, im not a fan of ebay at all tbh

    I appreciate that this may not such a great problem in all categories, and without knowing the categories you use most I cant try and provide some rough figures, however this is a little like saying 'this doesnt directly affect me so Im not bothered that others may be conned because my fees may go up if they clamp down on it'

    Yes, eBay should clamp down on ALL fradulent activity and yes there are other scams which are possibly more of a priority to be dealt with but this does not negate the fact that in many categories, thousands of eBayers with perhaps less experience than yourself are being duped into believing that they are making a purchase of an item from the UK when it clearly isnt. eBay could very easily identify such sellers and act and in fact such fradulent listings are easier to spot using eBay's own search functions, as I explained above, than many other scams. This is not just a case of a buyer having to wait longer for the item than expected, more importantly they have no UK/EU consumer rights with regard to the item and they may incur unforseen customs charges on import. If a buyer is less than happy with a transaction they have made on eBay there is the likelyhood they will be put off using eBay completely in the future. In fact, customer satisfaction with eBay, largely because of fears of being scammed, is at it highest ever and location fraud is one form of scamming. The more serious scams tend to be singular listings whereas location fraud is being routinely carried out by hundreds of large volume, long established sellers and could be said therefore to affect more buyers overall.
