Is this just one of those urban myths?
I always see people saying they make a fortune from AM but when you ask to look at their web site, they say, "no, it will give you an ideas how to make loads of dosh by stealing it" so the newbie can't win.
We just keep on believing you can!
I am seriously doubting it.
Where is the proof?
Please, someone even one 2 one me with any sort of site that is making money, I won't tell. I won't steal it!
Even if I did, I presume it's such a money maker that you wouldn't be bother-whoever you are.

Yes you can make money from affiliate but is not easy like everything in life. I did affiliate couple of years ago, I made money but not that much, now I am back on it. There are so many things you need to achieve to get a sale, I am not going to tell you I make thousands because I do not yet, I just started about a month ago but I made two sales, and it is reoccurring sale as it is membership based. Which mean I get paid every month as long they stay.
I will list to you the things you need to do to achieve any sale
1.Find a product from affiliate company, the biggest players are click bank and commission junction, there are others of course
2.Click bank for example will give you a sale page, your own website with your link added
3.Now it is not only you who sells that product, there are thousands others like you with exact similar page, so why people should chose yours? That what marketing get involved
4.SEO stands for search engine optimization. Basically, the reason you choose and write around good keywords, which means if customer want to buy something, and put the keyword for example lose weight in 14 days, and you are selling that product, how can you optimise your site so your site comes on top of search
5.There are many marketing techniques to get good SEO, one of them is writing articles and submitting them to free article directory.
6.Researching the keyword, you want to target
7.The list can goes on, it is huge subject
It might sounds complicated but all can be learned, and when you make a sale it is the best feeling ever. At the moment I am only concentrating on my blog, and my blog talks about this, making money from affiliate, SEO, marketing your blog, working from home jobs etc.
Affiliate is huge thing world wide, especially in the US, I visit a lot of US forums, it is really disappointing that most UK forum have no interest in affiliates and it great tool. Anyway you can check my blog in profile. Affiliate or internet marketing is huge subject, and you have to work hard to stand out from the rest.0 -
Just to add, you can start for free, you do not need to spend any money, and if you work hard, to optimise your site, you do not even need to hassle friends, and family. Your website makes a sale while you are sleeping.
When I first get up, the first thing I check is my clickbank account, and then there is something called google analytic, you install it free in your website. It tells you, how many people where in your site, how long they stayed, which country they are from, and the list is increasing every day.
It is exciting, fun but it is hard work, especially if you doing it free what they call it “bum marketing “ it is so worth the effort though, it requires patience and persistence.0 -

I don't make a fortune, far from it, but i can understand people not wanting to show you their web sites. One reason may be that they are exaggerating how much they earn.
But I'll tell you about two things that happened to me.
I had a couple of web sites that advertised pricerunner via CJ. At the time they paid between 10p and 70p per click, depending on the category. And that was for each click, not just per vistor. So if someone clicked my pricerunner banner, then went to the pricerunner site and clicked on 1 retailer, I would get between 10p and 70p. If they clicked on 2 retailersa I would get paid twice, and if they clicked on 3, I would get paid 3 times etc. etc. I was doing well, getting £30 to £40 per month by pushing the higher paying items.
Then a lady friend came to see me on Sunday afternoon while I was working on one of my sites. I explained that whenever someone clicked on the banner on my site, and went to the pricerunner site, I got paid every time they then clicked onto a retailers web site. She seemed mildly interested, but I thought nothing of it.
Then on the Thursday got an email from CJ saying my account had been cancelled. I replied asking them why, what had I done etc. and they replied saying that a large number of clicks had been detected as coming from the same IP address, so my account had been cancelled and they would not talk to me any more. And they didn't, never answered any of my emails after that.
Then the next day, Friday, my friend came back to see me and said "You must be rich now" I asked how, and she said that after I had told her about my web site earning me money, she had gone to work the next day and got all the girls in the office to click on my pricerunner banner every break and lunch time, there were 8 of them including her. They had been clicking on as many retailers as they could each break and lunchtime, even having a competition to see who could click on the most retailers.
It was no wonder I got banned because all the clicks were coming from the same place. But CJ never replied to my emails explaining what had happened.
After that I changed to Shopping dot com, and was doing quite well with that. Until I the day I got banned from that too.
This time it was either a friend or an enemy, I know which I think.
I use Statcounter for my stats, but only the free account so it only keeps the last 500 entries. When I looked at the logs I found someone had visited my site, via the link in my profile on this site, and just sat there clicking the shopping dot come banner every few minutes. I think they were hitting the banner, going to a few retailer sites, then coming back to my site and hitting the banner again and repeating the process. At the time the shopping dot com site opened new windows for each retailer. So I think they were clicking until they had too many new windows open, then closing them all and starting again from my site.
So now I don't give my web site details out, it's too easy for someone to ruin it for you.0 -
i made a bit of money on affiliate marketing, however you need to find a good program, you have to be willing to work, and you have to have to be determined, as you will not always leap straight into profit!"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that!"0

A mate of mine does very well, but he started when ebay first kicked off, he developed a load of free tools for ebay users to use, and the income from that has led to an early retirement in cyprus.0

That is really sad, and scary! I heard about black hat SEO and I was really shocked to hear that people can just do theses dirty tricks, I know this forum does not allow signature link but forum marketing through my signature in other forum has given me the best results. It scares me to think that another competitor will try to ruin your hard work.0 -
i have amazon links on our website but it hasnt earned hardly anything!:footie:0

So basically, no-one earns enough to live on?
I won't give up my day job then!0 -

You'll find plenty of people who say they make enough to live on, and a lot more.I won't give up my day job then!
I wouldn't
The way I see it is, you never know how much you have earned, you only get what the retailer gives you.
Example
You send 20 visitors to a retailers site, and he pays you £5 for each widget they buy. But you don't know how many of the visitors bought widgets, you only have what the retailer tells you, and they are the ones paying you out of their money.
So 10 of the visitors might have bought widgets, but there's nothing stopping the retailer telling you that only 2 bought widgets. Which means he only pays you £10 instead of the £50 you actually earned.0 -
I know someone who does but he works very very hard at it. He concentrates on making a very good, comprehensive website - actually he has two - and he keeps it up to date with proper, original content that is relevant and carefully researched, and they are subjects that interest him. He works a few hours a day on them now. It took a while to build up. Therefore he gets repeat customers, as they return to his website for the content.0
