For a simple £15 per month / £180 per year open 3 Halifax or Bank of Scotland Reward accounts (1 sole, 1 joint, 1 in the OH name).
Pass £1k a month through them online (does not need to stay there) and you will pick up £5 a month from each account.

Thats an idea for the future (when I'm back in work and actually earning a thousand pounds:rotfl:) Or hang on here, I could use some of the money I have saved and just rotate them through the accounts, although I have no OH so it would just be one for me, whichis not quite so good - but still pennies count.

you could have only £100 and swop the money in and out of Halifax and royal bank Soctland 10 times;)
i have a lloyds tsb vantage account which give interest if you have between 5 - 7 k they give you 4% a month... i have just opened and transfered an old bank account to alliance and liecester which gave me £100 cashback, plus i will get £45 cashback from quidco too... so now i have 1k circulating between the accounts to keep within their terms and conditions for the money and interest.....easiest money i have made in ages....:rotfl:
now that i have cleared my debt, i also have an American Express credit card.. which gives 5% cashback for the first 3 months, and then up to 1.25% after that... they pay this out annually, allready got over £160.... but i make sure as soon as the transaction shows up on my internet banking, i pay it off straightaway.... so no interest is being charged...:D
you thread has booted me up the butt to have another look at ways of getting money in for my daydream fund ( want to move to a smallholding...) so i need to save as much as i can. prob about the size of your mortgage as a deposit.. but hayho i can dream, and try and save in the mean time...:rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0 -
cashback on renewing your insurances etc. Phone everyone and tell them you're leaving, see if they'll offer you a bigger discount
shop using the cashback sites - I've had over £1500 out of Quidco and topCashback this year
maximise your tesco clubcard/nectar/advantage points - i got over £500 of christmas presents on these last year for NOTHING!
online mystery shopping - try emusteryshopper.com - quite easy to stack up over £100 in 6 months here
get the kids involved as well - car boots to get rid of their old stuff, split the money with them - they get new stuff, you get some cash. Are they old enough to help you make stuff, or to come up with menu ideas, meal plans etc?
look at your utility bills - can you save on these?
just first thoughts - will pop back if I have any more!! Good luck0 -
this thread is fantastic! great ideaMortgage November 2003 was £135k, but thanks to this website on 28/08/12 we became MORTGAGE FREE!
Now just over 2 years we have taken on the challenge again! )(starting £237k Nov 2014) Current mortgage £232,399.82, current overpayment total £1550, years remaining= 170 -
Start with a nonsense current account with a single direct debit or standing order. Doesn't appear to matter if its £1 a month to your children. It counts as a transferable direct debit. After that start opening current accounts. Start with the highest paying ones first so First Direct at £100 plus another £100 if you close it again within six months. They have some interesting ts and cs but you avoid all the hidden charges if you simultaneously open a linked savings account with a standing order of £1 per month. Alliance and Leicster regularly offer £50 Quidco plus their £100 offer. I've also taken advantage of the generous £70 gift from Nationwide as well as numerous £25 Quidco credit card offers, some of which don't even require you to spend on the card.
Matched betting is another very easy way to make a considerable amount of cash but it does come with risks attached. That said I made a little over 1K in roughly 3 months without trying very hard.
DooYoo has gone downhill. Six months ago you needed 75 reviews to gain £50. Thanks to a revamp thats now escalated to almost 400 unless you own an awful lots of washing machines and expensive appliances.
Mystery shopping is v. easy providing you live in the right place. Generally you're looking at around a tenner per assignment. The more you do the quicker you get at writing them up. I dabbled with both the in person and the emystery shops but found it very hit and miss. A bit like buses really. YOu wait around for ages and nothing happens and then suddenly tons of stuff crops up at once only you're committed to somthing else and there aren't enough hours in the day.
Asda credit cards give you 2% off fuel in Asda instantly plus vouchers at Christmas and free delivery all year which can be done via MySupermarket.com earning you both cashback (Quidco), ipoints (mysupermarket) and Asda rewards plus you are so much more regimented when shopping on line although you do miss out on the whoopsies. Its a godsend in the school holidays though.
I've found the biggest constraint on uping my income is time. There simply aren't enough huors in the day to do everything and sleep too.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
.... wondering how I could forget to mention the cash cow that is Bingo Britain but I did. Simply deposit a fiver and play bingo. Each and every day after that for 30 consecutive days you'll find a crisp free fiver in your account. Simply play bingo and withdraw your wining. The genius is you can autobuy tickets so you don't even need to bother doing anything. I cleared well over £100 from this. Others got far more. it is a gamble but the worst that can happen is you lose a fiver. Read the ts and cs carefully as theres a minimum withdrawl and a few warnings on money laundering or paying in enough cash to immediately withdraw which results in account closure.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
