Bank is still paying my money on a closed account!

Hope you can help me and give advice how to get this money back.
I had a mortgage with Lloyds, sold the house. I informed Lloyds I no longer needed the house insurance and all o.k.
But after 3 visits to Barclays to stop the payments they are still going through, this has made me overdrawn as I'm paying off the old mortgage. How do I get Barclays to stop this after letters and email and visits? I need to reclaim about £58.00 but not sure how to get this back, any advice appreciated.

Surely you should be speaking to Lloyds, not Barclays. Have you tried cancelling your Direct Debit?

OP, it's not completely clear who's paying what to whom. Are you talking about the house insurance? Was that also with Lloyds? Or just your mortgage? Were you in negative equity? If not, I can't understand why you're still paying a mortgage when you've sold the house. Also why mention that you're still paying the mortgage if it's the house insurance payments that are still going through? You say "all o.k." But how can it be OK if the payments are still going through? Is Barclays the bank you bank with, i.e. the account from which the payments are going? To Lloyds? I know I'm making a bit of a meal of this but on the face of it, it looks straightforward - cancel the Direct Debit.
