Sweet smell from car air con

When was the last time the cabin filter was changed ? "Old lady" smells are usually from stale water in the cabin filter / aircon ducts. Check for water from outside getting in as well.0

I would go down the bacteria route first.
It is very common to have a minging smell through air cons for the first few seconds when bacteria has grown inside.
The spray cans from Halfords are simple enough to use, just switch it all on, press and latch the spray, close the doors and leave it running for 10 minutes.
It is a simple enough (and cheap enough) issue before going paying loads to garages for diagnosis.
