Seriously how can anyone deny the BBC of the license fee, it is one of the best organisations on the planet producing a huge amount of entertainment, Ad-Free!!!!!! If you don't know what adverts are turn on any commercial radio station and listen to half a dozen adverts after every song that usually involves the use of inane stupid catchy 1 line songs repeated so many times a day your brain is eventually filled with them. I'm sure I'm not allowed to repeat any on this forum but directory enquiry services and comparison websites are amongst the main culprits. They are appalling, verging on unethical and beyond irritating. The BBC is a godsend and let it live a long and prosperous life, at least until my hearing has left and I am no longer subject to the torturous lyrics of webuyanycar.com

Seriously, folks, do you really believe 40p a day is too much to pay for:
    your BBC local radio station which keeps you up to date on school closures in bad weather such as we had last winter, as well as offering an unparalleled local news service;
Radios 1,2,3,4 and 5 plus the digital radio channels for people with DAB radios,
BBC 1, 2, 3 & 4 and a 24 hour digital TV news channel plus R4 long wave for cricket fans and more
A news and sport website that included text commentary from every World Cup match as well as the Premier League when it's under way
Local national and international weather reports
plus there's even more than this and I'm amazed that anyone thinks the licence fee is too high when they can access this sort of service.
I am amazed that people think advertisements all over their TV and radio and inane presenters who might well be influenced by advertisers would be a better option!

I'd prefer to see tv scrapped, rather than the licence fee. then we could all go and talk to our neighbors, get back down the local pub or actually do something useful in the community
  • I watch BBC1 about 12/13 times a year (when Doctor Who is on - the kids love it), the rest of the time I do not watch it at all.
    Payment a day challenge: £236.69
    Jan Shopping Challenge: £202.09/£250
    Frugal Living Challenge: £534.64/15000
  • To be honest I'd happily pay it if it was a subscription fee for just the BBC services but being charged the fee to watch other stations that don't see any of the money is essentially theft. Also the BBC news service is supposed to be impartial which quite frankly is laughable.
  • I haven't had any signal for BBC channels for about 3 months now, I think they should be giving me a refund........... It's terrible. I do appreciate that there are no adverts, however, I have not had the priviledge of this for some months. The BBC are ripping me off!

If I bought a new TV and it didn't work, I'd take it back & get a refund, why can't I do the same with the licence?

I think people should be able to opt in, or out for these channels, much the same as Sky or Virgin media. This would give more control for viewers, and make the BBC more responsible for how they raise money.

If you're registered blind, you get a rebate.............. they should get it free- its disgraceful.

i agree just pure theft nobody seems to mention another theft that is going on. when paying by direct debit another £5 gets charged from your account and not a word mentioned about it as it seems there is a lot of people out there who does not know about the
£5 service charge that occurs when paying your licence fee.

    just pure daylight robbery.
  • I dont think we should have to pay a licence fee to them. In this day and age of cable and sky there are so many different channels to watch.

I hate adverts on tv but i can switch off when they come on so i dont see why the bbc cant get there revinue from that.

I also cant remember the last time i watched some thing on the bbc so i theory i am paying for a service that i do not use.:j

I would happily pay double to stay free from tv and radio advertising and the junk channels that are proliferating on digital broadcasting.
The BBC,especially its radio, is the best in the world. We need to protect it from big business associations and politicians.

I am amazed that currently about 50% of moneysavers are would like to see adverts on the BBC. The BBC is the only haven from this blizzard of inane advertising. How so many people are prepared to spend 25% of their viewing time watching adverts is completely beyond me. Basically I record anything I want to watch on commercial channels and then skip the adverts when I watch but it is a very tedious business. I would much rather pay a fee and be free of advertising.
