buggalugs - peppers and chillies often stay green for a considerable time before they start turning to red. Sometimes peppers start developing what looks like black streaks on them as a prelude to turning red. You may have to be patient for a while longer yet.0

That is a monster chilli plant!
I think Scotland has been too cold for chillis this year...my largest plant is only about a foot tall and has the tiniest little flower buds/bells on it. The others are even smaller, so I'm holding out no hope at all of getting any fruit off them....sob sob.It doesn't hurt to be optimistic....you can always cry later.

Me too here in not so sunny Norn Iron!
Chillis and peppers are a real disappointment.0 -
Just came across this thread and wondering whether anybody could tell me what chillies these are. Have grown chillies before but these are so small!! Not sure if they are ready to be picked or notI'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints - the sinners are much more fun0

Think Think they are easier to see now - sorry if it comes out too big!

For anybody in northern climes, I suggest you try growing Hungarian Wax chillies. They are bigger, grow more prolifically and from my own experience of growing them outdoors in indifferent summer weather, they seem to be less fussy about needed hot weather. They're also very decorative, turning from green to yellow to orange to red as they ripen.0

I've got one plant (two years old) which has gone insane this year. After shaking off an early case of green fly it's now got over 60 chillis on it!! My guide for picking is to make sure they are nice and firm. However, always take the king chilli off (the one that grows from the first branching point and take a fair few early ones off before maturity to ensure more come along.0

Suppose it depends where you are! Im in the central belt but I have a chilli plant with about one hundred little chillies all over it! Some are starting to turn orange so as I am a wimp I will harvest them then because they are far too hot otherwise!
Perhaps I will find a liking for chillies!Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -

ONE HUNDRED??? That's soooooooo unfair, I love chillis and I'm still picking them from the little plastic bag in the fridge!
I'm Renfrewshire, and my plants are in the plastic walk-in greenhouse, should I bring them in the house, do you think? It doesn't hurt to be optimistic....you can always cry later.
