All 14 hours are logged onto my name with VOSA so when I next get tugged they will know exactly which courses I attended and what dates passed etc. Maybe the standard of your course was inferior to mine which was held with the Co-Op and approved by VOSA themselves unlike the companies advertising online where no one regulates their methods or information they are sharing(stupid)
Mine were JAUPT accredited, which is the independent body overseeing the DCPC http://www.drivercpc-periodictraining.org/en/
All cosha and above board, have heard of some providers testing, but there is no actual requirement for a test to be taken at the end of the course.0 -
You are correct for newly qualified drivers, but the post in question stated
Which is incorrect, there are no test every 5 yrs, and if you don't do it you don't lose your HGV entitlement, you just won't be able to drive legally till you've completed the 35hrs.
Actually you would be legally able to drive a HGV, you just couldn't do it for gainful employment.0 -
Did some digging and I stand corrected on the CPC, based on what co-op taught/told us on my courses the actual test is a necessity but actually it's irrelevant. Although I had to pass a written exam there is no requirement by law AND yes you will lose your job and entitlement to drive a HGV "but" only for hire or reward. Which basically is the same as losing the entitlement. You could still however drive for no hire or reward(free) or if it is your own vehicle i.e a motor home that pulls a trailer over 750kg, or you are a rich enthusiast and just want to drive a 45 foot trailer on an actross mega space to do the shopping:rotfl: I learnt something new thanks to this thread, not that it will make difference to my life0
