why the mightier than thou attitude. supposedly theres 5 million unlicensed\disqualified drivers in the uk.
having a license doesn't make an individual less prone to accidents.
So you don't have a problem with an unlicensed and uninsured illegal driver in charge of a fully loaded HGV then?
Well I hope that you never have the misfortune of being hit by one.0 -
You also compare to the long term qualifications; the difference is to become a doctor/accountant you must continually pass exams and show competence over a long period of time. To become a truck driver you pass one exam and that is it hence why the exam must be more difficult otherwise anyone could pass.
doctors make mistakes. those mistakes cost lives. in spite of all the training they receive.
why assume a driver will act recklessly when their life (also) hangs in the balance?
p.s. LGV drivers have to pass 5 exams to become a lorry driver and demonstrate competency every 5 years.0 -

Yes but a completely untrained/unqualified doctor or one who failed exams and got let in anyway would fail more.
Yes 5 exams for one qualification. ACCA for example has a requirement for 14 exams, 3 years experience as well as ongoing competence and CIPD and pre ACCA education yet you think someone who is given an HGV shouldnt have to pass anything.
You are living on a different planet. If anything the HGV requirements in this country should be even more!0 -

the simple fact of the matter is i'm more liable to be hit by a licensed driver than i'am a unlicensed driver (since there's more of them).
i knew several guys who were licensed class 2 drivers. one of them was a total maniac and when i asked him about any accident he'd had in the past he told me he'd crashed into a another vehicle and was found partially through his windscreen mirror.
which tells you he had no seat belt on at the time.
my friend without his license is so safety conscious, he wouldn't even risk going through an amber light.
the fear of being caught is a powerful motivator.0 -

You are an idiot. You shouldnt even be let outside alone never mind given a vehicle.
Statistics can say anything. Proportionately; untrained/unlicencesed drivers are far more dangerous.0 -

it's obvious you're a troll, but you amuse me :rotfl:
if we're going to ignore the stats on licensed\unlicensed drivers, why not ignore the stats concerning the safety of licensed drivers?
i recall a phone in i heard a few months back. i can't be sure of all the details but in NI there was such a back log of people taking practical car tests and no way of remedying the situation.
the DVA took the measure of issuing FULL licenses to anyone who had a provisional license!
it's not all about safety afterall. glad that myth's busted.0 -

Your wrong. Please do us all a favour and find a new career that involves not moving from your own house. People like you are just dangerous.0 -

Obviously not a big enough fear, I really do hope that he gets caught, people like him should not be anywhere near a push bike, never mind anything else, I just hope that one day they do catch up with him, and shaft him pretty damn hard.
And I also hope that the test examiners carry on failing you, as I really wouldn't like someone with your attitude to be allowed to have a licence.0 -
I think for all our sakes we best hope the OP never passes.
Firstly lets point out Elgin is an outlier, not the norm, there could be a number of reasons for a higher pass rate in Elgin. I doubt its anything to do with the actual examiners though.

Tbh I am not surprised given the amount of people embarking on such qualifications willy nilly at the job centres expense and the amount of dodgy training companies that so many people are failing. These sort of people just expect to pass and dont put in the work.
To be trusted with an HGV then the standard must be extremely high hence if a high percentage of people passed I would question why!
I notice that there is a few well respected driving schools near Elgin and that couple with its location probably means it gets committed drivers and learners rather than job seekers spending their discretionary fund on their latest whim.
And FYI the new DCPC which you clearly have NO knowledge on means we are educated AND tested every 5 years and if we fail we release our entitlement to drive a HGV and have to re do it all again.
When you want to come out with such a ridiculous post in future make sure you research first and stop yourself making such an idiot of yourself :cool:0
