MOT - Told things "could" be relaced

Hi all,
I just wondered what you do when you're told that?
Eg - the tyres will pass the mot, but they are nearly there, would you like them doing now?
Front brakes are nearly there, but are ok for now would you like them doing.
Basically i've been told the car has passed, but they're issuing an "advisory" with £300 of work. I'm possibly going to sell soon and would like to avoid uneccassry work, but dont want to put safety at risk.
Thanks

Tyre depth issues should not come as a surprise during an MOT to someone who is posting they don't weant to put safety at risk. Checking tyre depth takes seconds and it's handy to know the depths before leaving the car so they don't try it on.
If the MOT tester sees the tyres have 2mm on them and the car has covered thousands since the last MOT it is prudent to inform the owner of the tyre issue. Same with brakes if the pads are low.
You can easily check both before getting the work done.0 -

No, it's a local garage not a chain. They're actually very reliable, I've often asked them to take a look at soemthing specific which they've done for me FOC. And I'm pleased they havn't exagerrated the items and pressured me. They just said we can do them if you want0 -
You don't have to get the advisory work done by the garage that did the MOT there and then. Just take the advisory notice and get the work done in your own time by a garage of your choosing.0

True, I'm not great with car maintenance though and have been so busy I just dropped it off without thinking.
Our mileage is less than 4,000 per year though I usually say 6 to be on the safe side.0 -

Yeah I guess you're right. It's best to think about whether I want it doing, and if so when to do it.0 -
Your car passed the MOT and if you are going to sell, leave it as is. You wont get more for your car just for replacing service items.0

Want to bet? With my current car, I kicked the seller in the gentlemens vegetables for £500 because all the tyres were near the limit. Cost me half that to get them replaced.
Also all advisories are now recorded and searchable online. Again, you can use that to kick a seller in the gentlemens vegetables.0
