Has anyone dealt with Furniture Depot (Bristol)

Hi

My wife and I bought a dining table yesterday (Sunday) .

It wasn't in stock, and had to be ordered and would be ready on Tuesday (tomorrow)

We then found the exact same product online for £70 less.

On calling back today to cancel the order with Furniture Depot, they said since they has begun the order we couldn't cancel it, and could only get a store credit note. Apparently you have to write to the boss and he'll decide whether to give a card refund. So wish I'd used my Credit Card now as I may be covered by that refund cover immediately.

Surely there is a resonable cooling off period, and/or return period (in this case 1 day) in which to return the product for a full refund. It can't even have been used as we haven't even received it yet.

Any advice on how to get a refund will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Vaughan

    Hi,

So let me get this clear ....

YOU bought something in a store, decided you didn't want & are now upset that they will not give you your money back??

They are going beyond their legal requirements by offering a credit note .... not sure how your cc company can help? the store have done nothing wrong.

All you can do is appeal to their good nature & hope you get a refund.

Why the f**k didn't you look online before you bought it?

That's what I, and I dare say most people, would have done.

Good job it didn't go UP by £70 then that would ne another thread...

    Yes, I realise that now.

I was hoping it would be covered by a 14(ish) day return policy. Most stores will accept good returned for any reason. Also the fact remains that we have not even received the product yet.

We'll have to go through the appealing-to-their-good-nature route.

    Thanks for the response.

We have been looking continuously, this product was only listed after returning from the shop.

We obviously made a mistake, and it was a simple question asking if we had any recourse to a refund.

The only right to refund you have is if you bought under DSR and therefore have 7 working days to notify them of your cancellation.

Or if the goods are faulty, you can take them back for a refund within a reasonable time under the SOGA.

The 14 days period you refer to i think would be a store policy. Which is at their discretion and not your legal entitlement.

  • You will be extremely lucky to get a refund. My mum ordered a cabinet from them in January which turned up in July damaged. We have requested a refund rather than waiting another 3 months for another but were refused and said they would re-order another one. It still hasn't turned and they are being extremely unreasonable and we are at a loss of what to do next as I'm worried my mum won't even receive it after numerous compliants.

We have reported them to trading standards.

I would never recommend them to anyone!
